Buscemi vs. Hermes, Handbag Edition

By on April 19, 2015

Some girls would die for a double-wide shoe closet, filled to the brim with the latest styles of their favourite pumps. I, on the other hand, have always had a soft spot for beautiful leather handbags. Kate Spade, Coach, Tory Burch – they’ve each had their time to shine on my “most wanted” list, but what about those items that are still just out of our reach no matter how many paycheques we stash away?

Say Hermès and automatically every fashion-savvy gal will think of The Birkin Bag. An absolutely timeless bag that every girl wishes could be a staple in her handbag wardrobe. But with pricing anywhere from $10,000 to $150,000, the average consumer doesn’t exactly scream, “one in every colour, please!” No matter how much we wish we could. Hermès’ executive chief designed the classic bag in the 1980s for his personal friend, actress Jane Birkin. Since it’s inception, The Birkin Bag has proved itself to be one of the most sought after high-profile handbags. With rumors circling, “is there really a three year waiting list?” no wonder this bag a symbol of status and sophistication. But if you’re like me (on a budget) here is option # 2 for a fabulous designer handbag to drool over (that you actually might be able to afford).

Introducing Buscemi, designer handbags and sneakers with street style influences.

An American-Italian designer and self proclaimed “consumer first and designer second”. We’re digging that classic silhouettes with a little spin are becoming current again. In a more moderate price range (retailing for around $2,000), I love that Buscemi is on the higher end of attainable brands. Still blessed with the classic styling that can take you from the office to a lunch date and out shopping, Buscemi can be an everything bag, with that notable touch of luxury.

So, Hermes or Buscemi? Which one would you pick!? @My_CityGossip
