Look Ma – no hands!

Kylie and Kendall are suckers for anything that is reminiscent of the 90s. From Kylie’s trademark dark nude lips to their love of matching tracksuits, these sisters could smell a throwback trend from a mile away. Now that the mini backpack has emerged from the classroom straight to the L.A. social scene, the Jenner’s have been spotted out and about with their hands free for shopping (and texting) convenience.

This style was epitomized through Alicia Silverstone’s character, Cher Horowitz in the 1995 movie, Clueless. Practically becoming a cult classic for those of us who grew up in the 90s, filled with neon colours and lots of matching plaid, we’ve been having major déjà vu as of late.

I remember when my mom rocked the mini backpack look back in 1998, and if we know anything to be true in fashion it’s that everything comes back. Just look at Iggy Azaela’s video for Fancy, which was a three and a half minute remake of Clueless- yellow plaid miniskirt and all.

Today we can see the mini backpack is popping up as both a functional and fashionable piece. One of the most notable brands to carry the style is the dearly departed Marc by Marc Jacobs line. Offering the mini backpack in both a nylon bag style and a style mimicking their iconic silhouette.

She decided right then and there that she needed to pursue her true passion – fashion, and she hasn’t looked back since! Devon is hoping to expand her horizons through volunteering at fashion events and securing a fun and engaging internship for the summer. Along side school she also works part time at Banana Republic where she loves working one-on-one with customers to pick out the perfect outfit for them.
